Did you know that our brain has as many neurons as the number of stars in the galaxy? (We carry a small galaxy in our brain!!)
Did you know that a million thoughts pass through our brains each day and that 80% of the thoughts are same as those we thought yesterday?
Did you know that Schizophrenia affects about 1 out of every 100 people?
Did you know… Ok ok chill, I’m not here to share my gyaan on the human neural system. I’m here to share some of the thoughts that are going through my mind these past few days, though a little late to post or say anything about them. Anyway…quickkkly (that’s how someone I know says it)…
1. Class 8 student commits suicide because the principal canes him. This did not digest well with me. Coz I am from that age where caning was considered a normal and everyday affair in schools. We were all caned (yes, even a good girl like me ;) ) and we are all still alive. The thought of suicide NEVER crossed our minds perhaps because we never really cared. But what is worse about this incident is that the news channels are making a criminal of the principal. Is the principal the only one to blame? Should he be blamed at all? The parents are not questioned and neither is the mental condition of the boy. I mean did he think he was going to make the school and/or the principal “pay” for caning him by committing suicide? Was he thinking of what happened in the Ruchika case and hoping his death too would work out like that? I mean, come on, suicide? For caning? Where is the generation headed?

2. Top model Viveka Babaji commits suicide. The family claims that she was promised by her boyfriend to get married but he denies it. It is also said that she tried committing suicide before. If yes why did the family or her boyfriend not ask her to take medical help? If she was perfectly fine what made her take this drastic step?
So whats common in these two stories? No points for saying “suicide”. God knows what goes on in the minds of suicidal people. What is so bad in life that one has to kill oneself? For all those with suicidal tendencies, I request you to talk to your close friend(s) and/or family member(s). If that is not helping, please take medical help. And if, for whatever reason you do have to commit suicide, please write a neat note (email as well, if needed) to all your family and close friends and then do whatever you want to do. You may have died, leaving a void in the lives of your loved ones, you have no idea how tormenting the departments investigating your suicide will be to them. Worse than that are the news channels who will kill them multiple times when alive. And us viewers lose some hair pulling it out and cursing the news reporters. So do all of us one last favor – write a note. Thank You.

Trip to Auli - Day 2

Contd from previous post " Trip to Auli - Day 1 " Neither of us realized the alarm go off at 4:00 AM and when we finally did get up, it was 8:30 AM..!! :-O The only other option to reach Joshimath was to travel the 8 hours/300 kms by taxi. We knew it was going to be Rs. 3000 (as per our hom ework) two-way, as in we have to pay for the return journey as well. But it turned out to be Rs. 4000. We tried our bargaining skills with the taxi federation or whatever there, but to no avail and so we were put on an Ambassador car, our driver being a Akram. He later introdu ced hims elf to us as Vikram. The views on the outskirts of Dehradun were good. It was very foggy as well. E ven at 10:30 AM, the visibility remained hampered. There are a lot of camping sites on the way. There are lots of shops the locals have set up that offer camping, trekking and rafting. The camps looked inviting with tents and gazebo kind of things set up on the river side. The river itself was blue

Trip to Auli - Day 1

The trip started on 9 Jan, 2010 at the vee hours of 4:00 AM. The hardest part of getting up so early and the next hardest part of giving directions to our house to a confused taxi driver tackled, we were all set to the airport. I had not expected the roads and the lightings to look so spectacular in the dark. It was better than Mumbai's Queens necklace :D  Reaching the airport (Bangalore International Airport) and checked in, had an expensive Idli/vada/sambar (Rs. 90) and roamed around the duty free shops till it was time to leave. The Go Indigo flight was scheduled to take off at 6:30 AM. The gates opened at 5:50 and by 6:15 we were tucked in nicely in the aircraft, though the leg space was a little cramped. We even got to see the sunrise on our flight and it was oh so beautiful. Landed at Delhi (Indira Gandhi International Airport) by 9:00 AM. The outside temperature was 10 degrees. It was cold, tolerable and thick smoke was visible when people spoke :D Our next destination wa
